The first plate sums up the premise of the whole. In exception of the title there is text on the first, fourteenth and fifteenth plates. The twin rosaries encircle the subject which is the sleeping man. But what is the subject? The Latin text translates as follows, ”The wordless book, in which nevertheless the whole of Hermetic Philosophy is set forth in hieroglyphic figures, sacred to God the merciful, thrice best and greatest, and dedicated to the sons of the art only, the name of the author being Altus.” (Adam McLean’s translation) And then beneath there follows this notation, 21.11.82. Neg: 93.82.72. Neg: 82.81.33. Tued: Which reversed like the pseudonym would signify, Genesis 28:11 + 12 Genesis 27:28 + 39 Deuteronomy 33:18 + 28 Could perhaps this very simple introductory anagram have been deliberately designed to entice those who are open to seek illumination? Genesis 28:11 + 12 King James Version (11 And he lighted upon a certain place, and tarried there all night, because the sun was set; and he took of the stones of that place, and put them for his pillows, and lay down in that place to sleep.) (12 And he dreamed, and behold a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven: and behold the angels of God ascending and descending on it.)Genesis 27:28 + 39 (28 Therefore God give thee of the dew of heaven, and the fatness of the earth, and plenty of corn and wine:)
(39 And Isaac his father answered and said unto him, Behold, thy dwelling shall be the fatness of the earth, and of the dew of heaven from above;)These two + two paired highlight one premise the subject being the Monad. Each noun has many allegorical meanings which have root meanings which have vibratory signature, Torah cymatics which gave cause to concealment. The essence of alchemical teaching is the observance of the vital life force which permeates all matter. It is a grand concept thus the many allegories. These transmutations encompass say social structures as consequences of octavo correspondences to personal realizations. When one harmonizes with nature and it's natural order through study and meditations growth ensues, rebirth, new life. The pillows being rocks are the firmament it's inner order. The sleeping Monad is also the beginning of the story of The Great Work. It's all personal. The Ladder refers to the Tree of Life the Angels are conceptual chariots that encompass all transmutations. The grandeur of all creation is a magnificent splendor to behold. The Dew like a drop from the ocean represents that which holds memory as reflection, the Aether, and is the common medium which allows flight, ascension. Deuteronomy 33:18 + 28 (18 And of Zebulun he said, Rejoice, Zebulun, in thy going out; and, Issachar, in thy tents.)
(28 Israel then shall dwell in safety alone: the fountain of Jacob shall be upon a land of corn and wine; also his heavens shall drop down dew.)
Overall the subject in this pair signifies the state of humanity. The Dew dropping down completes the cycle of the Hermetic axiom. It is a story which when one breaks down the science of alchemy is crucial for the ascension of humanity. No great advance came without alchemical prodding. It can also be used unethically. Religions with profane views demanded the concealment. This buffered those worthy of knowing, those capable of stepping out of the matrix so to say. If only humanity could intrinsically grasp its potential they couldn't be coerced into warfare. When one understands that alchemical symbolism must reflect a personal inner situation unique to the One to give meaning, to apply in the world in infinite ways (octave 8 is to activate) then the one being the all in the grand scheme gives reflection. That becomes personal power so to say. There is much written about this book and more about just the first plate.
