When one hears the phrase "doing God's work" one normally thinks of somebody doing great deeds toward humanity. Generally these people are thought of as Humanitarians, Philanthropists, Clergy or even the neighbor next door who rose to the occasion during a crisis.
I was driving home today after work and I was remembering a pet rabbit I once had when I was living in an apartment many years ago. I had never considered ever having a rabbit as a pet, especially living in a suburban apartment. However this particular rabbit was unique..different. I had walked into Petland around Easter time. They of course had the rabbits displayed...so I reached down inside the pen to pet one of them and it scurried away but this one Dutch rabbit ran over and started licking my hand. Strange...rabbits are normally afraid of being touched. So I picked this one up and it closed it's eyes and completely relaxed....amazing. I couldn't resist so I bought him for fifteen dollars.
This rabbit's personality blossomed to where he would play with you. It was a male and I named him Boo Boo. He used to sit next to my stereo speakers when I played my music...even when I turned the volume up loud. He wasn't afraid.
I feel so fortunate, just about all the animals I've ever had as pets have been very unique in one way or another. I believe there are reasons for everything and the encounters one has in life are for divine reasons ultimately. The purpose being the evolving of the spirit. Animals or humans it is the same when one thinks of the miracle of creation...of life itself. In Rosicrucian writings it is said that all life is God's spirit. That all life evolves spiritually and can reincarnate into higher more complex forms. This means that our spirits were at one time part of the natural world around us, in animal form or whatever. This conclusion suggests that humans had ascended from evolutionary lower life forms. The quantum connection that all life shares is now broadened.
So what's our part? For me these insights strengthen my intent to treat all life as sacred. A gift from God to me in order to reflect and thus I should do God's work by being as loving as I can the best way I know how. To bring joy to others. This not only evolves one's spirit but it helps the ascension of other beings. It's a great loving act one can give in servitude.
