The last two times that we have gone camping, we have run into people that are completing a 26 mile trail loop thru the area known as Camp Albert Pike.
My wife and I are shooting for the end of September, early October. Davis will stay with his brother at the apartment for two nights. Our plan is to leave Friday evening, stay at a hotel, get up around 4 am and begin the trek, finishing it up around 7-8 pm. We will then hopefully drive to a hotel in Hot Springs and do a 1/2 day spa package which will include massages and hot tubs.

Sounds cool Vaj
On a side note wasn't Albert Pike a high level mason who wrote Morals and Dogma?
Peace and Light E.M.

That does sound like a great time! I love the balance - roughing it followed by a day at the Spa...Chris and I have to learn to throw in a bit of luxury at the end our camping trips. That would be soooo nice.

I remember reading about this and I believe that the KKK was an organization not racially driven in it's genesis. Corruption always filters in gradually like in politics. Pike's intent was toward a betterment of things....networking. However racism comes from an intellectual road block you could say. It's the same old battle of the heart and intellect. Heart must temper intellectual bursts. Pike was an intellect and thus categorized. We all use our intellect to overcome fear. Fear keeps us from feeling empathy through anger.

Yesterday the thought in my mind was Vajramukti hasn't posted in the Dojo for a while...as if you were going to. I can feel your anticipation bro. We are excited. Don't know yet if we are going for the full 27 miles. We only have one day, and will lose two hours of daylight this weekend. I think we are going to walk half the day, evaluate where we are, and either turn around or continue based on our mileage. From that, we can learn the route and plan for another trip in the spring. Either way, we are going to spend time TOGETHER, and wear ourselves out in the process.

We made it 17 miles. My left knee began to hurt after two, but, hoping to work it out, I kept my mouth shut. Kathy walked in front of me and I carried the pack, so it wasn't until lunch time, and our halfway point, that she noticed me limping and made me let her carry the pack.
We had an awesome time, and certainly plan to do it again, with better planning. The spa treatments the following day were AWESOME. I have had massages before, but this person was a skilled, deep tissue masseuse, and strong. As sore as we were Saturday night, we left Sunday feeling great.
