Yesterday I hadn't watched TV but earlier I caught the news on the Internet about the cyclone that hit Thailand but now every time I flip on the boob tube all I see is the Obama Hillary stage show. It saddens me that this isn't given the attention it deserves. Many souls crossed over yesterday. news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080508/ap_on_re_as/myanmar_cyclone

I am not too sure what more attention may be given other than donate something for the use of the survivors. Throughout history there have been appalling disasters, catastrophic events of mind-numbing magnitude. But there is nothing that can be done for the dead and no amount of youtube ghouling helps anyone.
This reminds me of the thread about the Boxing Day Tsunami. The grief is not for the souls who have gone on to their next adventures but for the survivors. I recall getting rather cross in my reply.
This event is Gaia again warning mankind of her might.

The appalling aspect of this is the refusal of the Thai government to allow aid to the suffering survivors. By assuring the suffering more will die which reveals agendas. The lack of American news coverage also reveals things. We have German television here in my office and this is covered extensively by the German news. networkforgood.blogspot.com/2008/05/help-victims-of-myanmar-cyclone.html I always give a few bucks although all the money in the world won't help if relief is hindered by corruption. You know what puzzles me? America and it's allies can land planes and drop troops in war ravaged countries even when it is unjust but dropping aid to starving homeless survivors is somehow not possible.

In a similar vein, there are Governments who refuse to acknowledge the existence or severity of the AIDS and allied disease problems within their country. These are harsh and frightful denials to grieving and appalled survivors of all catastrophe.
I sit and look out upon all the sorrows of the world, and upon all oppression and shame, I hear secret convulsive sobs from young men at anguish with themselves, remorseful after deeds done, I see in low life the mother misused by her children, dying, neglected, gaunt, desperate, I see the wife misused by her husband, I see the treacherous seducer of young women, I mark the ranklings of jealousy and unrequited love attempted to be hid, I see these sights on the earth, I see the workings of battle, pestilence, tyranny, I see martyrs and prisoners, I observe a famine at sea, I observe the sailors casting lots who shall be kill'd to preserve the lives of the rest,
I observe the slights and degradations cast by arrogant persons upon laborers, the poor, and upon negroes, and the like; All these-all the meanness and agony without end I sitting look out upon, See, hear, and am silent.

I can't help but wonder if the only way these Olympic Games may be halted or subdued is through the ire and might of Gaia.
