Although there are many Chakra points throughout our bodies, there are seven Major Chakras which are central to our beings.
Starting from the bottom up:
Red/Base or Root Chakra/Generator:
Controls the Gonads. This is the reproductive centre where the creative energy is stored. From this centre we raise our consciousness. This centre controls the base of the spine and reproductive and spinal column.
Orange/Abdomen/Active:
Controls the adrenal glands. This centre has a lot of work to do. It stores digestive energy here for assimilation and the digestive process. In many people this area is unbalanced. Malfunction in the adrenals is registered here, or ulcers or disharmony in the gastric juices. The Essenes always ate their food in silence, very slowly, having blessed their food beforehand.
Yellow Centre/Solar Plexus/Thinking:
Controls the pancreas. This centre registers our state of mind and projects how we look at life intellectually. Physiologically it reflects the left or rational side of the brain. Medically it indicates disharmonies in the organs such as the pancreas or the liver.
Green Centre/Heart,Emotional:
Controls the Thymus gland. This centre reflects the emotions and reveals how we relate to people and nature. It should reflect the natural colour of the heart and how much heart we put into activities. Physically it shows how well the heart and other organs around it are functioning. This centre is very vulnerable - any abuse such as drugs, too much medication, too much coffee, over emotional tendencies can affect the heart.
Blue Centre/Throat, Communications:
Controls the Thyroid gland. In this centre we can see how a person expresses his whole being - everything he/she feels. Physically this centre shows up vulnerabilities around the throat. Many people today have an imbalance in this area. Our whole shoulders take the brunt of our cares. If the thyroid gland is out of balance the whole body is affected. The thyroid controls the lungs, bronchial and respiratory systems.
Indigo Centre/Brow, "Third Eye":
Intuitive. This centre reflects the right or intuitive side of the brain. If enough energy can gather here it can show our healing abilities and our outlook on healing. All memories are stored here - past, present and future. It is the computer. Sensitivity on the one hand and disharmony (through mental imbalance) on the other hand are reflected in this centre.
Violet Centre/Crown/Wisdom:
Seat of consciousness - door to the Creator consciousness enters and leaves through this centre. Our appreciation of art, religion and beauty are reflected here. We all need a little of the violet colour. If this centre is kept active through meditation the body will be kept rejuvenated for as long as it is beneficial to the soul.

It is interesting to note that the Chakras rotate or spin and that male and female chakras spin in opposite directions...part of the balance of Yin/Yang.

It is interesting to note that the Chakras rotate or spin and that male and female chakras spin in opposite directions...part of the balance of Yin/Yang.
These Chakra Points also rotate or spin. Rotation to the right (clockwise) creates a stronger Chakra Point than a rotation to the left. Men and women's Chakra points spin in opposite directions to each other and therefore complement each other.
The male Base Chakra spins to the right giving males a stronger sense of mastery, of conquest etc. Moving up the Chakras, the female spin of the sacral Chakra is to the right, giving them a stronger sense of sensuality, enthusiasm, eroticism.
At the Solar Plexus the males spin is again to the right, working on issues such as strength, influence, power, whilst at the Heart Chakra, the womens spin is to the right, working on issues of love, compassion, healing.
And so it continues, each male and female attribute complementing one another.
