Spiritually there is no death, only the physical. So what happens when one physically dies? Where does one go? It's the ultimate question that persuades one to truly live. I have my beliefs which change as I grow.
What are your thoughts?

I see death as the portal into another realm...to shed one's physical skin...much as a cocoon...and undertake a metamorphysis...like the butterfly...to "shed these broken wings and learn to fly..."....
I have always known there to be many dimensions...and now I see that there is scientific eveidence which in some "quantum" theory manifests itself into what so many spiritual shaman/teachers have always spoken of....that other place that only some can "see" - or "feel".
Listen - I am dancing underneath you.
The puzzle is great - the pieces are many -
simplify it...reduce the pieces - for they are all comprised of the same "pie"...and this pie is our whole, so to speak. Look deep within you and you will find the place we all call home.

If one believes that there is an afterlife what could that be? To formulate a mental picture of an afterlife which is not within what we perceive as this physical observance is abstract. Is the answer just a matter of faith? Belief? What confirms? To say death and not seek is an entropic decision. Entheogenic experiences were the precursors to religion and philosophy. They took the brain's cognitive functions outside the box you could say.
What if when we humans die, we live an afterlife in what is like a holodeck experience. A spiritually created/imprinted loop of belief imagery based on memory which all life shares common. A matter of choice...the divine privilege, analogous to Q's existence in Star Trek TNG....intent realized. Is there such a thing as absolution when everything comes from the null? What are dreams? Some stars nova as rebirth and some recluse in the black hole singularity stillness. A singular point of perception. Memory is not just the conscious experience, it is a record imprinted vibrationally, a looping birth record alpha omega..so what defines parameters in terms of absolute reality if time is a variable? What's the point of reference in a reference-less void? The Monad?

So we could be in the afterlife this minute? When does the matter of choice time come? I am not saying I disagree with you on this but if this is the case what is the purpose? Is this where faith or belief comes in or is this perhaps the path one walks till they get to the self realization point? And would that point be the true joining of the self with the higher self? Could it be nothing is real ; all is illusion, that religions and philosophies were meant to keep one in check to ensure that one doesn't evolve to a higher existence, a sort of control mechanism or at least a balance mechanism?
Peace and Light E.M.

Think about the possibility of multi dimensions. Perhaps we incarnate to experience duality. The when is when we realize.. Shamans realize all is illusion. There are methods of experiencing. As far as an afterlife there is a belief that humans are an evolutionary step up from less evolved forms. All sentient beings share part of the God-Spirit...connected. Max Heindel has touched on this. Then there's reincarnation. I posted some questions in the Reincarnation board.
Self realization is the Alchemist path.
Interesting... Religion is and has been abused for power and control. Higher ideals cloaked for nefarious reasons. Religion while keeping humanity in check is also reason for conflict. I've often wondered if a religion-less world would be at peace or would it be more chaotic? In general humanities' third eye is closed therefore I presume it would be chaotic. I do though believe religion serves a good purpose. Moral structure in many forms are necessary. As humanity gradually awakens (opens) the higher ideals, symbology and similarities in the various writings become clear and embraced. Religion is now being looked upon differently. Comparative study leads to the overview.
After we die though...you know dreams can be looked at as an experienced holodeck-like deal. Illusion or reality? Our senses perceive just like in the waking state. Whats the difference? If we are made in the image of God then perhaps when we self realize after our genetic programming finishes we then create...like Q. Maybe there's stage growth after death....
Just musing....thanks Monk I like your insights!

I think what I was going for was not so much religion in general but more of the organized structured religions of certain branches of the tree. Corruption runs rampant in some but yet even in those religions there is good. I think some are meant to be that way for the student who loves to ask questions, so the ones that aren't Happy with the base answers they cause some to look for inward meanings and comparatives in others . There are lessons to be learned and many treasures to be found in all.
I guess the key would be the genetic programming , how to tap into the code if possible , maybe we create and live simultaneously by making choices make the right ones or the bad ones it effects your own little Utopia ecosystem. Can direct intention or connection with the higher self help create the balanced ecosystem of your life?

that sounds right..
Absolutely, this weekend I attended an Episcopalian funeral service. Reading through the prayers and hymns I noticed universal truths common in many religious writings. By studying comparative religions the more one gains from all writings.

Peace and Light E.M. Rob! Great to see you. Personally, I believe the afterlife will be here, and will be much better than what we currently have, but other than that, remarkably similar. We will still learn, still discover. But we will understand. I believe that we will have physical bodies.

Religions are basically agreed upon dogmas within which those who agree express their spirituality. Problem is, we tend to get caught up in the dogma and forget the spirituality. Jesus vs. the Pharisees, for example.
Dogma is useful. In order to be able to think outside the box, you gotta have the box...

When you say here do you mean Earth or this plane or dimension? Are you Christian? From all the Christian churches I've attended reincarnation has never been addressed. But then I've attended each for only a short time. I know the Mormon religion emphasizes transmigration. Good point...it's all about language.

I believe that this is Heaven. It is just not Heaven yet. I believe that we will physically exist, right here, for eternity.

You know wherever you are you are here. When it is thought places like Heaven or Valhalla are higher, it isn't just up though, higher in refinement which unveils the whole into perspective.
