 Michael Maier's drawing of the stone is a riddle or perhaps a lesson. The stone is incomplete and the reason why is pointed out. Can anyone see it? If you can let's hear it if you cannot; what what do you think it is? |

What immediately comes to mind is that all the shapes seem to be built from one another except for the circle that is being drawn. It does not touch the triangle at the top. I grabbed a compass and square and tried it, and it should touch. |

I grabbed a compass and square and tried it, and it should touch. Yes the triangle should touch the top but it doesn't. No explanation was ever given however the shapes have significance. The outer circle is the macro cosmos the inner is the micro. The two figures represent duality. The square represents the four elements. The triangle is the trinity or mind body spirit. There are two ways to look at this. One possible meaning represented is humanity's strive to complete the stone toward ascension. Or could there be a clue pointing toward how humanity must shift? |

The Square is out of Square. The bottom left corner is less than 90 degrees, just slightly. But it is enough to shift the bottom right corner of the triangle higher on the circle throwing the side of the triangle that touches the top right corner of the square off enough so that the apex does not touch the circle.
Masonically, the humans are not standing on the "level", their actions are not squared by the "square of virtue" so that their "plumb line" that would be attached to the top of the circle does not cross at the height of their aspirations.

Your poetic insight is precise and beautifully stated. Humanity is not on the level and thus inner light falls short from macrocosmic truth. There is an imbalance of spirit. The plumb line is a silver cord and the pendulum needs to swing back. The drawing seems to "point" to something though, something long lost or dangerous to openly reveal in a profane world of that time. |

There is another message conveyed here. Humanity is at an imbalance which is represented. The man is pointing down, his position is like the lower half of a balance scale. The Alchemist points to the counterweight position. The pyramid trinity needs foundation.
Humanity embracing the Sacred Feminine brings back balance, a heretical concept at the time of the drawing which the Templars knew all too well.
Imagine humanity living in a harmonious sovereign balanced position, no control needed. The true Great Work.
